When we started ET2media in 2011, we decided to include communications and event management in our business plan. We’re glad we did. Working with the Penticton Farmers Market (PFM) has given us an opportunity to really enjoy the fruits of our labour. When the PFM was recognized as one of the best markets in BC, we immediately shared the story on social media. We followed that up with a media release and photo. The story was picked up by several media outlets and has helped us promote the upcoming market season. Sometimes it’s good to ‘toot your own horn.’
As a former broadcaster, Erick has emceed and moderated various events in BC and Ontario. Being on stage is something he still enjoys. Since 2013, he has emceed the Summerland Chamber Business & Community Excellence Awards. The event honours Summerland residents who are making a difference in the community. “Returning emcee was Erick Thompson of ET2media who kept the evening running smoothly with his quick humour and professionalism.”
Erin and Erick both volunteer with several groups and organizations in Summerland and Penticton including the Trout Creek Community Association, the Okanagan Similkameen Parks Society and Summerland Bike to Work Week.
On April 8 & 9th, Erick will be emceeing the 21st Annnual Okanagan Fest of Ale in Penticton.
Road trips are always fun, especially when you can combine work and leisure. I recently travelled to Nanaimo to attend the first Aboriginal Business Match on Vancouver Island. It was a busy trip but I was able to take a moment to visit friends and relatives. I worked as a radio and television broadcaster in Nanaimo during the 1990’s. It’s a great city with a lot going for it.
ABM Vancouver Island was held in partnership with the Snuneymuxw First Nation, the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council, Nuu-chah-nulth Economic Development Corporation, and the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance. Vancouver Island Conference Centre was the host venue. The next ABM event takes place in Penticton, BC from May 9 to 11. ABM events will also be held in Enoch, AB, Prince George, BC, Saskatoon, SK, Sault Ste. Marie, ON and Membertou, NS.
ABM delegates use sophisticated business matching technology to set up as many as 31 pre-qualified appointments that are 20-minutes in length. The ABM network currently includes one third of Aboriginal communities in Canada and more than 500 innovative companies. In 2016, the network is expected to double in size. -erick
Creating a promotional video is a collaborative process. The producer and the client need to work together from concept to post-production. As an event planner, Steph Sielmann understands this concept very well. Not only did she have a vision for her video, she was willing to put in the time required to make it a reality. Steph also showed how focused she is on ‘game day.’ While the wind howled and the wedding guests arrived, Steph never wavered. She was the coolest person on ‘set.’

René Serbon is an entrepreneur who appreciates the value of good visual content. Over the past year, we’ve been working with René to create a variety of promotional and training videos. René shares this content directly with clients using her social media channels and through private website links. Our latest project with Renéis a short promotional video which she is planning to use as her ‘elevator pitch.’ The video will offer current and future clients an inside look at what drives René to be the best in her field.
The 6th annual Half Corked Marathon featured 1000 runners. 2015 marks the second year we have created a video for the event. Logistically, this race is interesting to cover. It’s spread out over a wide area and there is a lot going on. This video offers a glimpse at what has become a very popular race. HCM is presented by Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country.
If you own a business, you have a lot to think about. Creating visual content isn’t always high on the list. Aesthetics educator and professional René Serbon is an exception. To celebrate the 4th anniversary of her skin care company Dermal Systems, Serbon launched a short web video. She collaborated with ET2media to gather video footage during the 2015 Esthétique Spa International (ESI) trade show at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
“I’m incredibly proud that Dermal Systems is growing and reaching new markets every year. Having a booth and leading several workshops at ESI Vancouver provided a great opportunity for our team to celebrate, and showcase our products and services,” says Serbon. “Creating a video of this event lets us show our customers around the world what we’re up to.”
Visual content from the ESI show was also shared on Serbon’s social media channels during and after the event. This included short video clips created specially for Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Considering the cost involved in attending trade shows, it’s important that business owners take every opportunity to gain earned and shared media for their efforts.
